Customer & Community
Con Edison has a long-established tradition of contributing to and maintaining the social, cultural, and economic vitality of our service areas throughout New York City and Westchester, Orange, and Rockland counties. In 2016, CECONY and O&R provided nearly $12 million to hundreds of local nonprofit groups across our service territory whose activities support strong, vibrant, and stable communities. Our employees support local organizations in their own neighborhoods, and we match contributions so they go even further.
In keeping with our company’s mission to support the communities where we do business, the Con Edison Legal Services Pro Bono Program continued its partnerships with legal-services organizations and developed a new partnership with an organization devoted to helping domestic-violence survivors. Our employees volunteered to help low-income individuals with consumer-debt cases, unaccompanied minors with the immigration process, nonprofit organizations with contract and employment issues, and low-income and abused men and women seeking an uncontested divorce. We also continued our signature program assisting low-income veterans with outstanding student debt.
