Carole Sobin
Secretary and Associate General Counsel

Carole Sobin is Secretary for Consolidated Edison, Inc., and Secretary and Associate General Counsel for its largest subsidiary, Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. Ms. Sobin is responsible for corporate compliance and oversight on fiscal and business matters, board and shareholder relationships, documentation and reporting, and development of the companies’ corporate structure.

Ms. Sobin joined Con Edison after working as a trial and a supervisory attorney at the National Labor Relations Board in New York.  Prior to becoming Secretary and Associate General Counsel, Ms. Sobin held positions of increasing responsibility at Con Edison, including Assistant to the Chairman, Assistant General Counsel, Labor and Employment Relations, and General Solicitor, Law Department. Most recently, Ms. Sobin was the Vice President of Con Edison’s Purchasing Department, where she was responsible for qualifying and evaluating all of the Company’s vendors and for placing contracts for goods and services with a total annual value of over $1 billion, and for overseeing the Con Edison’s Supplier Diversity Program.

Active in various community organizations, Ms. Sobin currently serves on the boards of the Union Square Partnership and the Young Audiences of New York, an organization that advances arts education and programs in New York City public schools.

Ms. Sobin received her B.A. in Political Science, with honors, from Goucher College in Towson, Maryland, and earned her law degree, cum laude, from New York University School of Law, where she was selected as a member of the Law School’s honorary society. She is also a member of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, and was inducted into the YWCA-NYC’s Academy of Women Leaders in 2003.
