Supporting Employment and Diversity

Con Edison's employees make their homes in one of the most diverse area in the country. We are one of the largest employers in our region. At year-end 2008, Con Edison employed 15,646 people. Of that total, 42 percent were minorities, and 17 percent were women. Con Edison of New York employed 14,309 people, O&R employed 1,075, and the remaining 262 were employed by the competitive energy businesses.

We are committed to ensuring that our workforce is representative of our communities. Our employees include a rich mix of racial and ethnic backgrounds. We support and promote minorities and women in management, technical, and non-traditional field positions.

We have a strong record of diversity in our workforce and are working hard to ensure that all of our employees feel valued. Con Edison's Equal Employment Opportunity Affairs Office unites the EEO strategies and policies of the regulated utility companies to combine the best practices of both.
